Coaching Advanced Baseball
Intermediate to College
This in-depth guide provides coaches, parents, and players with a wealth of vital information to be successful in the game of baseball. This unit contains the tools and resources you need to successfully teach and play the game, and to become a winner at the highest levels of amateur baseball.
Advanced Infield Skills
Development of infield players, focusing on ground ball mechanics with in depth work on backhand and slow roller skills.
Middle Infield: Double play feeds and pivots to develop the skills of shortstops and second basemen.
Corner Infielders: Focus on the specific skills, strategies, and related drills needed to play first or third base at advanced levels of play.
Advanced Outfield Play
Fundamental skill sets and related drills correlating specifically to each of the three outfield positions: left field, center field, and right field.
Advanced Pitching and Catcher Skills
Work through the mechanics of a pitch from position and windup through release and finish. Dig into fastball, changeup, curveballs, sliders, knuckleballs – and holding a baserunner.
Develop a catcher with stance adjustments, receiving skills, blocking a pitch in the dirt, throwing out base runners, passed and wild pitch balls, pop-ups and fielding bunts.
Advanced Offense
Implement the three main aspects of hitting: pitch recognition, mechanics, and game plan. Dig into stance, load and stride, rotation, contact, extension and finish – and master the skill of bunting.
The Mental Edge
Raw talent alone is not always enough to make college or professional baseball happen for a student-athlete. Mental skills can be a differentiator.

We are proud to have Coach Trent Mongero as our head coaching instructor. Coach Mongero is still enjoying the success of the North Hall Trojans’ Georgia 2017 AAA state championship. That year he was selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association as one of the three high school National Coaches of the Year.
Next Level Ballplayer is pleased to partner with Coach Mongero to include his expert coach training content as part of the Baseball Coaching Academy. Working with Coach Mongero in the videos is Coach Tim Hyers, a former major league ballplayer who is currently the head hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox.

We are a group of former ballplayers, parents of ballplayers, and coaches who’ve worked with players at the Little League, JV, High School, College and Pro levels.
